The first few logs are in place.
On May 14, 2024, the first load of logs arrived. Blue Trail Construction sourced new poplar logs and hand-peeled them, as the original logs had severe dry rot. The crew was able to assemble the walls and cut out the doors and windows in two days.
On June 14, 2024, the roof, restored by Brovan Construction, was lifted into place onto the walls.
We are so happy that Foothills Tank Rentals provided a driver, truck and trailer plus pilot vehicles as an in-kind donation to the project. Thank you so much to Foothills Tank Rentals! And Darcy's Crane sent us a very reasonable invoice, which helps us keep the costs lower.
Today, July 15, 2024, Blue Trail Construction is working to level off a corner so that the roof is sitting more solidly on the walls, and then they plan to secure the roof so it doesn't go anywhere in a bad windstorm.
The next steps include chinking the gaps and staining the logs. It is coming together, a few increments at a time.
